White Teas

Whilst a lot of people are still avid fans of drinking black tea, there are plenty of other variations out there. One of the most popular variations is White tea, which originates from China. There are other growers in the world, but China is where the majority of the White tea in the world comes from. The Chinese Camellia Sinensis plant is responsible for White tea. The plant produces small buds and young leaves which are all used in the product.

After the leaves are exposed to the sunlight and allowed to wither slightly, they will be processed. Leaving them in sunlight will help reduce the chances of them oxidizing and fermenting in the long term. This is also what actually produces the unique flavor relating to White tea. The Chinese Camellia Sinensis plant is actually quite unique. When the smaller buds are opened, they have small silver/white like hairs on them. Essentially, this is where the name "White tea" came from, as the plant looks slightly white.

A lot of people know that China was the base for development of White tea, but the history relating to it is long and complicated. Many people suggest that variations of the White tea were around long before it was developed in China, so many disagree on its original origin. According to many historians, White tea original showed up in an English publication. In 1876, it was actually labeled as black tea, only because of the production and steeping process that was used. This process was not the same as many green teas of today, so the flavor and look of the tea was completely different. At this time, tea was categorized into two sections - black tea and green tea.

Black and green teas are extremely similar and White tea is not too different either. There are a lot of different variations of tea, but many of them have the same health benefits, which is why many people choose to drink them in the first place. They tend to have similar chemical properties, but the weighting of these chemical properties are totally different, depending on the production process used and type of plant that the tea comes from. In the past, protection against cancer has been one of the most talked about things relating to products like White Teas.

One of the main improvements that tests have shown over the last few years is the improvement in the cardiovascular health of an individual. The anti oxidants that are present in many of the White teas around today are said to help with reducing blood pressure, and also help improve the productivity of blood vessels, which decreases the chances of any cardio based health problems. Alongside this, White teas have been said to help with bacterial based problems. They help build up the bodies immune system to different types of illnesses.
