Teapot Strainer

Tea is loved in most parts of the world, especially those in the east love the tea and consumes it in various different forms. Tea was originated in china and then flew off to Japan until it spread into every corner of the world. Time has brought with itself convenience and we can now easily purchase tea bags of our favorite tea.

The making of tea with tea bags is also very convenient and mess free. However traditional loose tea or tea leaves were used to make tea. In the case of loose tea, the tea particles were suspended in the tea loosely. Of course tea could not be served with those particles coming through to end up in your mouth. For that reason Teapot Strainers were used. Strainers act to strain the infused tea leaves and the loose tea particles.

A teapot strainer is generally round in shape having small wholes to strain the tea particles and tea leaves. In olden times strainers were made up bamboo. Now the strainers are usually made up of some metal like stainless steel, copper, ceramic etc. There are also plastic strainers that we suggest should not be used. The strainer can be easily bought from the market as a stand along piece. You can place the teapot strainer in the cup and pour the tea from above all the loose particles will stay in the strainer, however pure and clear tea will rest in the cup.

There are also tea pots and kettles available in the market that have built in strainers in them. These strainers and fixed at the inner side of the kettle or the tea pot. So that when you pour the tea in the cups the loose tea particles stay in the tea pot. These tea pot strainers are removable, once the purpose is served you can easily remove them from the tea pot, wash them and place them back in to the tea pot.

The stand alone tea strainers can strain almost 4 to 5 cups of tea after that you would have to clear the strainer otherwise the tea might not flow properly. Once you are done with using the strainer wash it well.

When you are buying a strainer make sure the holes in the strainer are very small, if not then tiny tea particles might escape the strainer and manage to enter the tea cup. You may also find strainers with the stainless steel net to preserve the tea particles or the leave and let the tea set into the cup.

The market is full of beautiful and aesthetically made strainers that could match your tea set. However it is convenient to buy a tea pot that already comes with a strainer as it would be easy to manage and you will not have to carry an extra tool with you. The built in strainers are also mess free. So you can now go into the market and chose a nice tea pot with the built in strainer, which will serve your need of stained and clear tea.
