Stainless Steel Tea Strainer
The tea lover market is worldwide and so vast that the availability of unique ways that they have found to produce the same thing is seemingly infinite. Take for example the simplest of utilitarian devices for tea, the Stainless Steel Tea Strainer. You would think there would only be a few ways to make this item, but that is not true. There are hundreds of variations and the maker of each has their own reasons why theirs is the best one to purchase.
Take for instance the Bodum YoYo stainless steel tea strainer and infuser. This strainer even has its own lid. It is a few inches high and a little over an inch in diameter. The body of it is made of stainless steel mesh and the lid is solid with a little hole that is off to one side. The strainer/infuser itself is designed to hold loose leaf tea and then to be inserted into a tea mug. The reason the strainer is taller than it is wide is so that the maximum amount of water can reach the maximum number of tea leaves at a single moment. This makes for a faster brew time. Once finished the strainer can be removed, the lid pulled off, and the strainer set in the lid. This keeps the wet tea leaves from staining the table and making a mess. After all is said and done the strainer can be washed in a dishwasher and conveniently hung in the cupboard by the small hole on the strainer lid. This is one very functional stainless steel tea strainer.
Other stainless steel tea strainers are more traditional in their look and use. For example, the Thai tea stainless steel filter has a small handle that holds a steel wire mess bag. This is a very simple design where the tea is dropped in the bag and the handle is placed on the side of the cup to keep the bag from completely sinking into the cup of water.
Another simple strainer is the stainless steel tea strainer that appears like a metal ball with a chain. The loose leaf tea is placed in the ball and then the ball dropped into the tea. The chain can be used to maneuver the ball for quicker steeping and then the chain is used to pull out the ball once the tea has reached the proper strength. This is one of the most commonly seen types of stainless steel tea strainer that you will see in use in tea houses worldwide.
