Oolong Tea Bags
Tea has long been served as an appropriate warm beverage for guests and commonly consumed when meeting people on brief dates. However, tea has quickly become famous for the various health benefits it provides. These health benefits are primarily from the variants of standard tea such as green tea and black tea. While they are being referred to using separate names, all teas have been derived from one species of plant known as the camellia sinensis. The names have been derived from the color of the end product once the tea has been prepared. The difference lies in the level of oxidation performed on the leaves during extraction of the tea. For example, green tea undergoes minimal oxidation. One of the variants that have been gaining popularity is known as oolong tea (or wu long tea). This does undergo a certain degree of oxidation (more than green tea) but less so than standard tea.
Using Oolong Tea Bags to prepare a cup of tea offers several benefits in comparison to standard black tea. Treating yourself to a cup of tea prepared from an oolong tea bag on a frequent basis can potentially lower your cholesterol levels, help you lose weight and increase your life span among various other health benefits. The downside is that oolong tea has a different taste to black tea. However, oolong tea tastes similar to green tea without the intense bitter taste usually felt by green tea.
Oolong tea is mostly available as oolong tea bags due to convenience. It is a recognized fact that tea is better prepared by using loose tea instead of tea bags however in the case of oolong tea bags, this appears to be an exception. The primary reason for this is due to the fact that preparing a cup of tea using loose tea adds to the flavor however oolong tea is predominantly consumed for its health benefits rather than the flavor.
Oolong tea bags are available from several countries. Unlike black tea which is primarily from countries such as Sri Lanka, oolong tea is generally produced in countries such as China and Taiwan , which is how the name was derived. The quality and taste of the oolong tea bag can differ depending on the country of manufacture. Despite the relatively low consumption of oolong tea bags, oolong tea bags are very economical.
While oolong tea is usually consumed in its pure form even without the inclusion of sweeteners, certain tea manufacturers provide flavored oolong tea bags as well. This is an ideal way to reap the benefits of oolong tea if you can't gauge the natural taste of the tea. Flavored oolong tea bags are slightly pricier to normal oolong tea bags. To benefit from the health aspects of using oolong tea bags, the quality plays an important role, thus make sure you stick to reputed, established tea brands when shopping for oolong tea bags.
