Japanese Green Teas

Japanese Green Teas are some of the most popular in the world. There are two main countries that manufacturer green teas, with Japan being one and China being the other. In Japan, almost all of their teas are considered to be green, so they do not call it "green tea" or "organic tea", but simply tea. Japanese green teas were originally used when the Song Dynasty took place and they were introduced to the culture by a Japanese Buddhist. Nowadays, drinking tea is a part of every day life for Japanese people.

The problem for people that are not experts in this field is that there are hundreds of different types available. Generally, Japanese green teas will be graded by their quality. The growing process and manufacturing process all relates to how high a quality the end product will be. Of course, teas that derive from fairly uncommon plants are likely to be the ones that are going to be much more expensive than other variations that are available.

Anyone that has researched Japanese green teas will know that there are a huge amount of health benefits related to them. The type of health benefit that can be gained from drinking Japanese green teas will really depend on the type of plant that is used. Some will help people with diabetes to stabilize their blood sugar levels; where as others might help to reduce things like cholesterol.

Gyokuro is considered to be one of the most prestigious teas to come from Japan. As such a high end product, only the wealthy tend to drink it; this is one of the most expensive teas in the world. One of the main unique things about the Gyokuro tea is that it grows in the shade for twenty days before being harvested. The majority of other teas will need to grow in sunlight in order to be high quality. The lack of sun is what produces its pale green color. The lack of shade also creates excess caffeine and amino acids which are again, something that a lot of other Japanese green teas tend to avoid.

Another popular of the Japanese green teas is the Kabusecha. The Kabusecha is yet another of the products that are grown in the shade rather than the sunlight. There is a distinct difference in flavor though, which is not just down to a difference in the plant, but also the time it is grown for. The Kabusecha tea is grown for a lot shorter period of time compared with the Gyokuro green teas.

One thing that can be said about Japanese green teas is that there is plenty of variety available; there is a tea for every taste. The Fukamushicha tea is another one of the popular products. The leaves of this plant are extremely long and the lush, deep flavored leaves make for a much bolder and deeper tasting cup of tea in comparison to many of the others that are available.

Tamaryokucha is a ball type Japanese green tea. This is one of the teas that certainly has a unique flavor, with a bold berry taste. This tea is generally one of the popular teas in Japan. It is readily available and reasonably priced, although places like Europe are still lacking supplies.

I have only mentioned a few of the many Japanese green teas available, but I hope to have given you a taste of what is available. As there are so many different varieties, with a bit of experimentation you are sure to find one for you.
