Chinese Green Teas
The Camellia sinensis plant is a plant that is well known, as its leaves are used to make Chinese Green Teas. The production process is fairly simple, using a simple process of oxidation. Green tea is well known across the globe, but originated from China. That being said, it is now a highly consumed product of Japan and South Korea, among many other cultures.
China first started producing green tea over 4,000 years ago. Since this time, many variations of Chinese green teas have been produced to better suit certain cultures. A lot of the variations are derived from the growing and production process. Growing conditions of the Camellia sinens has a lot to do with the flavor, as does the harvest time and production process.
The original use for Chinese green tea was known to be as a natural medicine. Years ago, it would have been used to heal all kinds of injuries and disorders, as well as helping the digestive system. With the whole world pushing towards becoming organic, many studies have already been published in relation to the benefits of Chinese green teas. Among the studies include those that suggest that regular drinkers of green tea are less likely to suffer from cancer and other things such as heart disease. In fact, Chinese green teas have even been linked to helping people with weight loss.
The process of making the perfect cup of Chinese green tea is known as steeping. Drinkers will need to add around 2 grams of green tea for every 100ml of water. Of course, the amount of tea used will change depending on the strength of the particular tea. Making a green tea is similar to a normal cup of tea, but not the same. Temperatures of around 85C will be needed and the steeping process can take between 2-3 minutes in order to extract the most flavor. Steeping tea at higher temperatures and for longer will be needed in order to produce great flavors from lower quality Chinese green teas.
The health benefits of drinking Chinese green tea have proven to be extremely positive. The product contains things such as vitamin C and plenty of minerals, which help to build up a body's immune system. Essentially, green tea works as an antioxidant, which can make the body feel revitalized.
General health is certainly something worth mentioning when it comes to Chinese green teas as well. Many human based tests have resulted in studies that show green tea to be of huge benefit. Drinking Chinese green tea regularly leads to an absence of things such as cardio related diseases, kidney stones and most importantly cancer. Of course, this is combined with a healthy lifestyle; drinking Chinese green tea alone may not allow individuals to avoid these problems.
